Domaine Andrée - The Grolleau Flight 2020
In Saint Cyr-en-Bourg, Stéphane Erissé's Domaine Andrée cultivates a precise vision of Loire grape varieties. Carefully tended vines, hand-picked grapes, meticulous sorting, and minimally interventionist winemaking are the house's signature. The reds emphasize energy, clean fruit, and a gastronomic drinkability that makes all the difference at the table.
L'Envolée 2020 puts the Grolleau in the foreground. A sunny vintage in Anjou, harvested at peak ripeness for deliciousness while preserving freshness. The grapes are mostly destemmed, macerated in infusion with gentle extractions to preserve the crunchiness. Indigenous fermentation, short aging in vats and barrels of several wines to polish the texture without affecting the profile. Bottled after a light fining if necessary, controlled sulfur. Confidential production focused on the purity of the fruit.
The nose expresses juicy raspberry, wild strawberry and morello cherry, enhanced by peony, a dash of white pepper and a hint of crushed leaf. The palate is slender and savory, with an immediate attack of crisp red fruits. The tannins are fine and smooth, the tangy structure breathes rhythm, a touch of blood orange and light licorice brings length. The finish is fresh, spicy, slightly smoky, with a stony return that is a sign of the Angevin terroir. ????
At the table, serve L'Envolée 2020 lightly chilled with a country terrine, Tours rillettes, roast poultry, herby pork tenderloin, grilled veal, or mild Asian cuisine with sweet and savory notes. It also pairs well with mature goat cheeses. Serving temperature between 13 and 15°C in a tulip glass. Open 30 minutes before serving or decant briefly to loosen the bouquet. Immediate enjoyment and cellaring for three to five years, depending on the cellar.
