Domaine Bernard Gripa - Saint Joseph Blanc 2023
Domaine Bernard Gripa is located in Mauves, in the northern Rhône Valley . The estate was founded in 1974 and has been run since 2001 by his son Fabrice Gripa . It produces wines in the Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph appellations. The vineyard covers just under 20 hectares on granite and limestone soils. The estate is managed with respect for the environment and the promotion of the terroir. In the cellar, it mainly uses 228-liter Burgundy barrels or 600-liter casks. The wines are aged in wood for between 8 and 12 months depending on the vintage.
Saint-Joseph Blanc is a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne from different plots. The vines are around 40 years old. After manual harvesting, the grapes are put into direct pressing. Part of the must (80%) is racked into oak barrels and the other part (20%) into stainless steel vats. The wine is aged on fine lees ; half in demi-muids , one part (30%) in 228-litre oak barrels and the last part (20%) in stainless steel vats .
