Maison Meunier is located in Saint-Quentin-sur-Isère in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In 1809, Charles Meunier , a trader in colonial products and a botany enthusiast, established himself as a distiller in partnership with Camille Teisseire, a manufacturer of Ratafias and other liqueurs in Grenoble. He experimented tirelessly and developed a distillate composed of alpine plants and génépi, thus creating the first Génépi des Alpes . From 1841, Charles Meunier, appointed tax collector in the town of Voiron, passed on his knowledge and recipes to his wife, Amable. She, with the help of her children, established the Distillery in Voiron under the name A. Meunier Mère et Fils and marketed Meunier Liqueurs made according to the recipes created by her husband. In 1975, Eugène Modelski , former financial director of the Compagnie Française de la Grande Chartreuse, took over the Meunier Distillery, which was up for sale at the time. After ten years of training, François, Eugène's eldest son, became the new Master Distiller of Maison Meunier. Diligent and methodical, he would manage the Distillery's production for over thirty years. After several years spent marketing the House's products, Patrick Modelski took the reins of the Distillery. In 2021, the Distillery was passed on to Edouard and Arthur, who thus became the third generation of the Modelski family to oversee Maison Meunier.
Génépi Altitude from Maison Meunier is a mountain liqueur with intense, slightly sweet, plant-based flavors.
