This original project was born in 2023 around the most exceptional distillates of Savanna , the H err , and a meeting between rum enthusiasts: the Savanna team and Michael Barbaria, the founder of Swell by Spirits . Two big names in the spirits world to create an exceptional series around Herr!
Herr is a unique High Esters rum, as rare as it is exuberant, a true concentrate of fruit and deliciousness; a fabulous invitation to travel to Meeting . For his first opus in the series Savanna Herrline , Mika selected barrel No.268: a Herr rum distilled in 2009 , left to rest in stainless steel vats for more than 5 years before aging on January 2, 2015. It was then put in ex-Cognac barrels for 8 years . It was bottled at its natural strength, cask strength at 60.8%. 635 bottles were produced in total and only a very small part of this barrel will be available on the mainland France market.
The launch of this beautiful bottle took place on June 7, 2024 in our establishment Constantia : place dedicated to gastronomy, wines and spirits.
Tasting note from the Swell team at Spirits & Savanna:
Nose: Dominantly fruity (exotic) or even over-ripe with a hint of acidity characteristic of long fermentations. Notes of vanilla and spices bring sweetness and complement the woodiness of French oak. The promise of a complex and powerful tasting.
Mouth: Tasting confirms the complexity and aromatic power of High Ester between gourmandise on harlequin, sweetness, acidity and woody notes. In the finish, a beautiful power of Herr softened by a fruity and vanilla sweetness.
