Domaine de l'Horizon - Red 2017
The Domaine de l'Horizon is located in Calce , in the Languedoc-Roussillon region . After having worked for several estates in Germany, Italy and Saint-Emilion, Thomas Teibert settled in 2006 on 2.5 hectares of vines. Its vineyard, which today extends over 15 hectares planted with local grape varieties, has been certified organic since 2007.
The Domaine de l'Horizon Rouge is made from vines owned by the Domaine in Calce, grown on limestone, schist and marl soil. It is a blend of Carignan (70%) and Grenache Noir (30%) whose age varies between 60 and 100 years. After a meticulous selection, fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, in whole grains for 12 to 16 days. The aging lasts 12 months in barrels and casks of 500, 600, 1,200 and 2,000 liters.
