The Secrets of Bargemone - Rosé 2020
The Commanderie de la Bargemone is located in Saint-Cannat, in Provence . After its creation by the Templars in the 13th century, the property belonged successively to the Count of Baux, to the Arbaud de Bargemon family, then to Thomassin Bargemon, hence the name Bargemone. In 1968, Jean-Pierre Rozan bought the estate and replanted the vineyard. In September 2019, André Einaudi , French industrialist, son and grandson of winegrowers, acquired the Commanderie de la Bargemone, with the desire to continue the work of generations of winegrowers. The estate extends over 150 hectares including 66 hectares of vines (56 hectares of red grape varieties and 10 hectares of white grape varieties) in the Côteaux d'Aix en Provence appellation. It is traditionally oriented towards the production of rosé wine and white wine using the Sauvignon Blanc, Rolle, Syrah, Counoise, Caladoc, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. Since 2015 the Commanderie de la Bargemone has been converting its vineyard to organic farming . In 2022, more than 95% of the vineyard is certified and full certification is planned for the 2023 vintage.
Les Secrets de la Bargemone rosé is a confidential cuvée, produced in small quantities. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%) and Syrah (50%). The harvest is carried out at night in order to preserve all the freshness of the berries. The harvest is then cooled again before being placed in the presses. The musts, after pressing, are put in vats then stabilized for 2 weeks to obtain a more aromatic, fatter and longer-lasting wine. Mid-fermentation, the wine is transferred to oak barrels for an average of 12 months .
