DOMAINE DE L'AURAGE 2014 Son of François Mitjavile, owner of the renowned Tertre Roteboeuf (Saint-Émilion Grand Cru), Louis, known as "Loulou," acquired a 20-hectare single-plot vineyard in Castillon-Côtes-de-Bordeaux in 2007 with his wife Caroline, on the eastern edge of the Saint-Émilion vineyard. Loulou, who had long studied with François, naturally decided to settle down with Caroline and produce his own wine. He wasn't looking for an AOC but a terroir and... Merlot, the Mitjaville specialty. He set his sights on a Côtes de Castillon estate in 2007, which is right next to some Saint-Émilion Grands Crus like Valandraud. LouLou is also a highly sought-after consultant, especially for viticulture. He operates in Bordeaux, of course (Dassault, Martet, etc.), but also in the Rhône and Languedoc regions. And consequently, its wines go beyond the Castillon appellation, a very dynamic AOC, the playground of many of the big names in Saint-Emilion: Niepperg, Perse, Derenoncourt etc... It is a brilliant interpretation of Merlot, the estate embodies the rising generation of Bordeaux
