Tenuta delle Terre Nere - Etna Rosso 2024
Tenuta delle Terre Nere is located on the northern slope of Etna, in Sicily, within the Etna DOC appellation, now considered one of the greatest volcanic terroirs in the world. Founded by Marco de Grazia, the estate has played a major role in the international recognition of Etna wines. The vines are planted between 600 and over 1,000 meters altitude on soils of basaltic lava, ash, and volcanic sands, giving the wines a unique mineral signature. Significant thermal amplitudes favor slow and balanced ripening. The vineyard is managed with certified organic farming, with a precise parcel-based approach aimed at revealing the identity of each contrada.
Etna Rosso 2024 is the emblematic expression of the estate, mainly made from Nerello Mascalese, complemented by a small proportion of Nerello Cappuccio. These native grape varieties finely express the complexity of volcanic soils and the influence of altitude. The 2024 vintage offers a remarkable balance between solar ripeness and altitude freshness, resulting in an elegant and structured wine. Vinification is conducted precisely to preserve aromatic purity and tannin finesse, followed by measured aging that refines the structure without masking the terroir’s character. This cuvée reflects the refined and vertical style of the great reds of Etna.
On the palate, the wine reveals aromas of fresh cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate, accompanied by floral notes and a subtle smoky and mineral touch typical of volcanic soils. The mouth is fine, taut, and energetic, supported by elegant tannins and vibrant acidity. The whole offers great drinkability while maintaining depth and complexity. The finish is long, saline, and slightly spicy. This Etna Rosso will perfectly accompany grilled meats, Mediterranean dishes, or refined Italian cuisine, and can evolve harmoniously over several years.
