At the foot of the Pyrenees, Domaine Bellegarde stands out as an essential reference in the Jurançon appellation. Thanks to meticulous work in the vineyard and respect for biodiversity, the estate showcases the traditional grape varieties of the Southwest, Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng, to produce dry wines of rare intensity. The Pierre Blanche Magnum 2023 cuvée illustrates this requirement. Produced from vines planted on clay-limestone soils punctuated by characteristic white stones, it expresses all the minerality and purity of this unique terroir. The choice of the Magnum format (1.5 L) accentuates the wine's aging capacity and aromatic complexity, offering a harmonious and refined evolution. The 2023 vintage benefited from generous sunshine and balanced conditions, allowing for ideal grape maturity. Upon tasting, Pierre Blanche Magnum 2023 presents itself in a pale yellow color with golden highlights. The nose is expressive, blending white flowers, citrus, exotic fruits, and saline minerality. On the palate, the attack is lively and precise, carried by a beautiful tension. The texture is ample and elegant, with flavors of white peach, candied lemon, and almond, supported by a long, fresh, and chiseled finish. A gourmet dry Jurançon in a prestige format, perfect for accompanying convivial meals, seafood, fine fish, or poultry in sauce, while offering remarkable aging potential.
Domaine Bellegarde - Pierre Blanche - Magnum 2023
Domaine Bellegarde is located in Monein, in the Jurançon appellation in southwest France. The estate was founded in 1920 by Gratien Labasse and passed down from generation to generation. Since 1985, his grandson Pascal Labasse has managed the 12-hectare estate , which is undergoing conversion to organic farming . In the vineyard, the southern heat and southerly wind allow for raisining, an over-ripening technique for making sweet wines. The estate produces eight vintages, half dry and half sweet.
The dry Pierre Blanche wine is made from a blend of the first selections of Petit Manseng (60%) and Gros Manseng (40%) . The grapes are harvested manually from mid to late October. Fermentation and aging for one year are carried out in demi-muids with indigenous yeasts.
Grape varieties: 60% Petit Manseng, 40% Gros Manseng
