Clos de la Barthassade - The Mourvèdre du Clos 2023
Clos de la Barthassade is located in Aniane, in the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac in Languedoc . The estate was founded in 2014 by Burgundians Hélène and Guillaume Baron . They trained with renowned winemakers such as Dominique Derain and Sylvain Pataille at Domaine de la Pousse d'Or and Domaine de Trévallon. The estate, approximately 13 hectares in size, consists of several small vineyards planted on limestone scree terraces in the communes of Montpeyroux, Jonquières, and Saint-Saturnin. The couple uses natural plot-by-plot vinification, without added yeast or sulfur. The vineyard is cultivated organically , and some tasks are carried out according to the biodynamic calendar.
Mourvèdre du Clos is made from Mourvèdre grapes whose vines are approximately 35 years old. The wine is aged for 22 months in barrels.
