Château de Bois Brinçon - Terre de Grès 2024
The Château de Bois-Brinçon, located in Blaison-Gohier in Anjou, has belonged to the Cailleau family for several generations. Xavier, Géraldine, and Léandre Cailleau uphold a demanding parcel-based approach, supported by biodynamics and a fine reading of the terroirs. The Terre de Grès 2024 cuvée is born from a 1.50-hectare plot of Chenin planted on a sandstone soil with spongiolites resting on tuffeau chalk. The high planting density and controlled yield promote a precise, straight, and luminous expression of the grape variety. The grapes are hand-harvested by sorting, at just the right maturity, to preserve the fruit's brightness and the wine's purity. This cuvée thus fits into the lineage of great dry whites from Anjou, both refined, taut, and deeply marked by their origin.
In the cellar, whole clusters are slowly pressed for 8 to 10 hours before fermentation in barrels. The aging continues in oak barrels used 1 to 3 times, with bâtonnage performed only if necessary. The nose reveals a delicate expression of Chenin, between white fruits, ripe citrus, floral notes, and a stony nuance. On the palate, Terre de Grès 2024 seduces with its freshness, minerality, and balance between tension and roundness. The body remains elegant, without excess, with a saline and persistent finish. It is a gastronomic white wine, already accessible today but capable of gaining complexity over several years.
Served around 8 to 10°C, it will perfectly accompany seared scallops, saffron monkfish, a noble fish in a light sauce, or aged goat cheeses. Its fresh and mineral profile also makes it a very fine companion for iodized or lightly spiced cuisine. Over time, its Chenin framework should develop more honeyed, smoky, and complex nuances while retaining its Loire energy. Terre de Grès 2024 embodies a precise, lively, and refined dry white Anjou, where the aging supports the wine without ever dominating the terroir. It is a cuvée of character, designed for lovers of straight, vibrant, and elegant Chenins.
