Domaine de la Clartière - Terres de Paillé 2023
Located in Nueil-sur-Layon, in the heart of the Anjou vineyard, Domaine de la Clartière is a family estate passed down through four generations of the Pinet family. Managing about 30 hectares of vines, the estate is part of a strong Anjou tradition, promoting dry, sweet, and characterful red wines made from emblematic Loire Valley grape varieties. Committed to respectful and certified viticulture (notably High Environmental Value and Terra Vitis), it regularly stands out in guides and competitions, with several distinctions including a selection in the Guide Hachette 2026 for this "Terres de Paillé" cuvée. This recognition confirms the serious work carried out in the vineyard and cellar, with a constant desire to produce precise, sincere, and accessible wines. The "Terres de Paillé" cuvée thus represents a refined expression of Chenin on the Anjou terroirs.
Made from carefully selected parcels and vinified with care, this wine benefits from partial aging in barrels and on fine lees, bringing richness and aromatic complexity. The nose is expressive, blending citrus, ripe fruits, white flowers, and subtle woody and pastry notes. On the palate, the attack is broad and silky, supported by a remarkable balance between richness and freshness, characteristic of great Loire Chenins. The aging adds nuances of brioche, almond, and vanilla, while maintaining an elegant mineral tension that structures the whole. The finish is long, persistent, and harmonious, marked by beautiful precision. This wine stands out for its ability to combine controlled power and finesse, offering a particularly accomplished gastronomic profile.
This characterful white wine is ideally suited to refined culinary pairings, especially with noble fish, seafood, poultry, or fine-paste cheeses. Served between 8 and 10°C, it fully expresses its complexity and freshness. Accessible today, it also has interesting aging potential, able to evolve favorably over several years developing more honeyed and spicy notes. It is a complete cuvée, both generous and structured, perfectly illustrating the potential of Anjou Chenin in a modern and controlled style.
