Domaine Henri Gouges - Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2023
Domaine Henri Gouges is located in the commune of Nuits-Saint-Georges , Burgundy . The estate was founded in 1919 by Henri Gouges and continues to be owned and operated by the Gouges family. He was among the first producers to reject the Burgundian négociant system, which was then considered corrupt. Instead, from the 1920s onwards, Henri Gouges devoted himself to bottling on the estate, a rare practice at the time. In the 1930s, when Burgundy's appellations were first designated, he successfully campaigned against the designation of the Nuits-Saint-Georges vineyards as Grands Crus, despite being both mayor of the village and a designated member of the INAO. Today, Domaine Henri Gouges' vineyard holdings cover 14.5 hectares, including parcels spread across seven Premier Cru sites . Almost all wines are made from Pinot Noir , but a limited amount of white wines are also produced.
Les Pruliers comes from two plots located on the southern slope of Nuits-Saint-Georges, blended during the winemaking process for a total area of 1.8 hectares. This Premier Cru extends in the middle of the slope between 240 and 260 meters above sea level, where we find a great complexity of rocks, from flat rock to scree coming from the top of the slope. With vines averaging 50 years old, the Premier Cru Les Pruliers is an intense and robust wine with good aging potential.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
