Born in Premeaux-Prissey in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, Domaine de l'Arlot cultivates a 15-hectare estate where exacting winemaking standards are combined with a pure expression of the terroir. Organic farming has been practiced for many years, with official certification obtained in 2014, and biodynamic practices have been implemented across all the vineyards since 2003. This approach, guided by a team experienced in meticulous work, aims to produce Pinot Noir wines of exceptional clarity and expression.
Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges 2023 comes from an iconic single-vineyard vineyard in Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru. This unique walled vineyard covers 7.2 hectares in a single block and delivers an immediately recognizable identity characterized by its depth and precision. Vinification and aging are carried out entirely at the estate with a focus on measured intervention to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the signature of the terroir. The 2023 vintage, sunny yet restrained, emphasizes the precision of the texture and the structural balance.
The nose opens with aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry enhanced by spice, then, with aeration, hints of licorice, leather, and blood orange emerge. The palate unfolds with density and energy, supported by a tight structure and ripe tannins with a silky texture. The mid-palate reveals measured concentration, vibrant black fruit, and a savory freshness that lengthens the wine. The finish is long and precise, with lingering notes of sweet spice, black fruit, and a discreet salinity that is a hallmark of the terroir.
At the table, this premier cru pairs beautifully with a roast beef fillet with a light jus, pigeon with chanterelles, black truffle risotto, or venison loin with berries. It also finds a perfect match with a mature Brie de Meaux or a 24-month aged Comté, which highlight its complexity without overpowering its freshness.
