Château POUJEAUX - The Château Poujeaux Room 2018
Château Poujeaux is an estate located in the Moulis-en-Médoc sub-appellation in the Haut-Médoc region, on the left bank of the Gironde River in Bordeaux . The château is owned by the Cuvelier family . Located in the Haut-Médoc region, Château Poujeaux prioritizes Cabernet Sauvignon in the production of its three wines: the grand vin is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with Merlot and smaller quantities of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc .
In the now-defunct 2003 Cru Bourgeois classification, Château Poujeaux was awarded Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status—the highest rating for a Médoc château not included in the 1855 classification. In 2010, a heavily revised Cru Bourgeois label was reintroduced that did not establish a tiered system, and as a result, Château Poujeaux and five other houses that had been named Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel formed their own group called Les Exceptionnels outside the new classification.
La Salle de Château Poujeaux is the château's second wine. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc . The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels used for aging the grand vin.
Grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc
