Clos des Fées - Modest

The Domaine du Clos des Fées is located in the Côtes-du-Roussillon , at the foot of the Pyrenees. It was created by Hervé Bizeul in 1997, to live his passion for wine to the end. From April 1999, his wines were sold en primeur. The vineyard increased a little, it has 7 hectares in production but only 15,000 bottles due to low yields. Today, the vineyard of the Domaine du Clos des Fées extends over 30 hectares: 27.5 hectares planted with red and 2.5 hectares planted with white. The Domaine is considered the No. 1 in Roussillon .

Modeste is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre . The Grenache and Syrah are grown on powdery black schists in Espira de l'Agly. The Cinsault is grown on a very stony clay-limestone terroir and the vine is 35 years old. Maceration is short with rapid fermentation using indigenous yeasts.
