Tenuta Casenuove - Chianti Classico 2015
Tenuta Casenuove is located at Panzano in the appellation of Chianti Classico, in Tuscany, Italy. It belongs to Philippe Austruy from Vignobles Austruy (La Commanderie de Peyrassol in Provence, Château Malescasse in Bordeaux, Quinta da Côrte in Portugal) and Lorenzo Fiaschi cofounder of the Galleria Continua. Together, they developed a contemporary art project named Le Radici dell’Arte where an artist is onvited each year to create a work of art at Tenuta Casenuove. The domaine covers 105 hectares including 65 hectares of forest, 2.5 hectares of olives and 28 hectares of vines, of which 14 are currently productive. The consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt was given responsibility for supervising the vines and preparing the domaine blends. All the wine techniques are based on sustainable agriculture. Small quantities of copper and sulfur are used in the production.
The Chianti Classico 2015 is a blend of Sangiovese (80%), Merlot (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%). The grapes are hand-harvested, and the bunches are selected. Vinification is traditional in concrete vats with punching down and racking. The grapes macerate for 1 month. The wine is aged for 10 months in concrete and stainless steel vats, with 15% aged in foudres. The 2015 vintage is considered a perfect year with a wonderful balance of sunshine and rain, producing fully-developped wines with great body.
