Domaine Vincent Dauvissat - Petit Chablis 2022

The Domaine Vincent Dauvissat holds a unique place in Chablis, in the Yonne region, where its name remains associated with a deep and rigorous expression of Burgundian Chardonnay. This family estate, created in 1931 according to available information, has been passed down from generation to generation before being carried by Vincent Dauvissat, then by a new generation involved in the continuity of the estate. The vineyard covers about 12 hectares and spans the four levels of appellation in the Chablis region, from Petit Chablis to Grands Crus. Its reputation is based on a demanding approach to the vine, measured yields, and constant attention to the natural balance of the terroirs. The vines are generally described as worked in uncertified biodynamics, with a spirit of respect for the soils and precision. The Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Petit Chablis 2022 is one of the most sought-after entry points into the estate's universe, as it maintains a fundamental ambition rarely associated with this level of appellation. It expresses a bright, tense, and saline Chablisian character, with a depth that far exceeds the simple and immediate image sometimes associated with Petit Chablis.

This Petit Chablis 2022 cuvée comes from the Petit Chablis appellation, produced in the communes of the Chablis region, often on the heights of hillsides or the beginnings of plateaus. The soils generally rest on a Portlandian subsoil, more recent than the Kimmeridgian of the great historic terroirs of Chablis, which gives wines that are often lively, direct, and carried by a clear minerality. At Vincent Dauvissat, this geological base is approached with the same rigor as the other cuvées of the estate, to preserve the frankness of the Chardonnay and the identity of the place. Available information mentions manual harvesting, fermentation conducted by indigenous yeasts, and a long aging on fine lees. The 2022 vintage, marked by generous ripeness in Burgundy, brings more volume and sapidity, while leaving the wine with a tangy finish and beautiful tension. The aging supports this material without seeking a demonstrative effect, in a sober, precise, and deeply Chablisian style. This Petit Chablis 2022 thus stands out for its balance between ripe fruit, saline freshness, and limestone energy.

On tasting, the Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Petit Chablis 2022 reveals a clean and expressive nose, dominated by citrus, lemon, white fruits, light flowers, and a more mineral touch evoking fresh stone. With aeration, the wine can gain nuances, revealing notes of yellow fruits, zest, and a slightly iodized sensation. The palate is lively, precise, and more ample than sometimes suggested by the Petit Chablis appellation, with a matter balanced by a frank acidity. The texture remains straight, salivating, and finely chalky, carried by a tangy finish that extends the freshness. This profile makes it a wine particularly suited to oysters, seafood, grilled fish, sardines, langoustines, or a delicate starter around salmon. It can be appreciated in its youth for its brightness and tension, but it also has the necessary structure to evolve for a few years in the cellar. Served around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius, it will gradually reveal its aromatic precision and mineral character.
