Domaine Maxime Magnon - La Bégou 2022
Domaine Maxime Magnon is located in the Hautes Corbières , in the Languedoc region . Originally from Burgundy, he was not born with hereditary rights to a Burgundy estate but has been making his own wine in the Corbières for about ten years. He bought plots of old vines on an abandoned vineyard and rents a former garage. He cultivates 9 plots on 11 hectares with steep vineyards at high altitude. He has obtained organic certification , but also integrates biodynamic practices into his vineyard management. Like his friends and mentors, Didier Barral (in Faugères) and Jean Foillard (under whom he studied in Morgon), he is a naturalist at heart and seeks to create a harmonious ecosystem in his vineyard.
La Bégou is a blend of Grenache Gris (50%), Grenache Blanc (35%) and Carignan Gris (15%) with an average age of 50 to 60 years. The grapes are fermented in tuns and then the wine is aged in old barrels for 10 months .
