SINE QUA NON - Male - Syrah 2013

'This Syrah looks like an eclectic stack. But she's elegant like an unlikely mix of George Clooney and Mike Tyson in a tuxedo! ' This is how Manfred Krankl the owner and winemaker of Sine Qua Non defines his wine! This cuvée combines power and charm in a very beautiful way.

Nothing predisposed Manfred Krankl to become an iconic figure in the Californian wine industry, but his aura is now spreading around the world. Manfred, an Austrian emigrant who arrived in California in the early 1980s, started out as a restaurateur in Los Angeles. He quickly realizes that the quality of bread in California is not excellent and it is towards the bakery that he turns. He quickly realizes that this project not only requires a lot of capital but also a lot of time. He then turned towards the production of wine in 1984 by purchasing grapes for a confidential production of 100 cases. From 2004, he focused on Rhone-style blends (Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne) with his own vineyards. Today, with only 3,500 cases produced per year, it is extremely difficult to obtain an allowance. But Manfred Krankl does not plan to develop his estate further, preferring, he says, to produce "a bottle of wine costing $ 3 million, rather than 3 million bottles costing a dollar". He intends to have time to devote himself to his other passions such as music, art and motorcycles (which resulted in a serious accident in 2015 ...)
