Domaine Morey Coffinet - Chassagne Montrachet 2024
The Domaine Morey-Coffinet, based in Chassagne-Montrachet in Côte de Beaune, establishes itself as one of the most demanding and precise signatures of contemporary Burgundy. Managed under certified organic farming FR-BIO-01, the vineyard benefits from rigorous soil work by tractor inter-row cultivation and crawler tractor, promoting microbiological vitality and deep rooting. The parcels are hand-harvested with extreme attention to maturity. The vinifications are minimally interventionist, aiming to preserve the purity of the fruit and the faithful expression of the terroirs. Even for the village appellation, the estate applies the same standards as for its premier and grand crus.
The Chassagne-Montrachet 2024 comes from a total area of 1.57 hectares, located on lower slopes with multiple exposures, offering a beautiful diversity of expression. The soils of clay and limestone bring both roundness and mineral tension. The vines, planted between 1960 and 2012, are managed with simple Guyot and Poussard, guaranteeing balance and longevity. The vinification is followed by an aging of 11 to 13 months in 228 and 350-liter oak barrels, of which 30 to 40% are new wood, bringing structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit. The wine is fined with bentonite, unfiltered, then bottled with a natural cork of Extra quality and sealed with wax.
On tasting, this Chassagne-Montrachet 2024 reveals a refined nose of white flowers, fresh pear, and citrus, enhanced by a subtle toasted touch. The palate is ample and harmonious, supported by beautiful texture and precise limestone tension. The balance between richness and freshness gives the wine depth and elegance. The finish is clean, slightly saline, and persistent. This wine can ideally be enjoyed between 2 and 5 years after bottling, while offering additional aging potential depending on storage conditions.
