Domaine de Trévallon 2023
The Domaine de Trévallon, located in Saint-Étienne-du-Grès north of the Alpilles, is a legendary reference among the great wines of southern France. Established on an exceptional terroir of very stony limestone and clay, dating from the Lower Cretaceous, the vineyard benefits from a wild and preserved environment, surrounded by scrubland. Founded by Éloi Dürrbach, the estate has established itself through its unique style, outside the classic codes of Provence, now classified as IGP Alpilles. The vineyard is managed using organic farming, with an artisanal and low-intervention philosophy. The aging process is long, an essential signature of Trévallon, allowing the wine to gain depth and aging potential. Each vintage is sought after for its strong identity and remarkable longevity.
The Trévallon Rouge 2023 comes from the estate's emblematic blend, combining Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The harvest is done manually, with traditional vinification without artificial yeast, respecting the raw material. The aging exceeds two years in large oak vats, with limited racking to preserve the wine's natural richness. The fine lees continue to nourish the structure throughout maturation, bringing texture and complexity. The 2023 vintage, marked by beautiful ripeness and preserved freshness, gives birth to a structured, balanced, and deeply noble wine.
On tasting, the 2023 reveals an intense nose of blackcurrant, wild blackberry, and cedar, accompanied by notes of spices, licorice, and scrubland. The palate is dense and elegant, supported by ripe and structured tannins, perfectly integrated. The balance between Mediterranean power and natural freshness gives the wine great depth and remarkable length. The finish is persistent, complex, and noble. This vintage has a strong aging potential, able to evolve harmoniously over several decades, and will ideally accompany noble meats or characterful gourmet cuisine.
