Domaine de Faverand - Syrah 2024
The Domaine de Faverand is located in Mazan, at the foot of Mont Ventoux in Vaucluse, in the heart of southern Rhône. This small estate of about five hectares quickly gained recognition in the region thanks to an artisanal approach and a strong commitment to producing expressive wines faithful to their terroir. The vines are planted on sandy soils mixed with clay and limestone, well-drained grounds that bring finesse and freshness to the wines despite the Mediterranean climate. The estate favors environmentally respectful viticulture with agroforestry initiatives aimed at strengthening biodiversity and soil vitality. This approach, combined with controlled yields and unadorned vinifications, aims to reveal the purity of the southern Rhône grape varieties.
Within this philosophy, the Syrah 2024 cuvée highlights a direct and precise expression of this emblematic grape variety, in a style that seeks elegance and freshness rather than power.
The 2024 Syrah is made exclusively from this grape variety cultivated on the estate's sandy and clay-limestone plots. These draining soils allow obtaining grapes at maturity while maintaining a beautiful natural tension. The harvest is carried out carefully to preserve the integrity of the berries and to promote the purest expression of the fruit. The vinification follows a low-intervention approach with spontaneous fermentations and moderate extractions intended to preserve aromatic finesse. The aging is deliberately measured to maintain the freshness of the grape variety and the clarity of the terroir. This method gives rise to a wine that favors fruit precision and silky texture rather than excessive concentration. The whole reflects a contemporary vision of Ventoux Syrah, where the southern sun's ripeness combines with a search for balance and finesse.
On tasting, the 2024 Syrah reveals an expressive nose marked by aromas of fresh black fruits, blackberry and blackcurrant, accompanied by spicy notes characteristic of the grape variety. Nuances of violet, pepper and sometimes garrigue gradually appear with aeration. The palate is supple and velvety, supported by fine tannins that structure the wine without weighing down the body. The balance rests on vibrant fruit and natural freshness that brings great drinkability. Flavors of black fruits and spices linger in a persistent finish, slightly peppery and subtly saline. This wine pairs particularly well with grilled dishes, roasted meats, herb-seasoned lamb or fragrant Mediterranean dishes.
