Domaine Jean Michel GERIN - La Loye 2023
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is located on the Côte Rôtie , in the village of Ampuis , in the northern Rhône Valley . Jean-Michel Gerin acquired his first plot of vines in Côte Rôtie in 1983. Four years later, he released his first vintage, followed closely by his first single-vineyard wine: Les Grandes Places, in 1988 and La Landonne in 1996. The estate's most recent production came in 2009 with the production of La Viallière from a vineyard planted in 2003 in Côte Rôtie. Today the estate covers nearly 17 hectares and the two sons of the family, Michaël and Alexis, participate in the viticulture. It was in 2020 that the decision was made to launch the conversion to organic farming .
La Loye is made from Viognier , the vines of which were planted in 1989 on two plots south of the commune of Condrieu . It is vinified in old demi-muids (2 to 5 years old) and then aged for 1 year .
The 2023 vintage is distinguished by its generous nose, dominated by notes of white flowers , fresh apricot and peach , supported by a subtle touch of citrus . The palate seduces with its balance: ample and silky, it retains a beautiful freshness which prolongs the tasting with an elegant and slightly mineral finish. A charming and gourmet white wine, perfect to accompany grilled fish, refined Asian cuisine or simply as an aperitif. A cuvée which perfectly illustrates Jean-Michel Gérin's expertise around Viognier.
Grape variety: 100% Viognier
