Domaine Vacheron - Sancerre Blanc 2024
Domaine Vacheron is located in Sancerre , in the Loire Valley. The family estate, established by Maurice Vacheron in the early 1900s, is now run by third-generation winegrowers, cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique Vacheron . Since 2004, the 48-hectare estate has been farmed using certified biodynamic methods . This shift to biodynamic practices was made to allow Sancerre's distinct terroirs to be showcased in the wines; Domaine Vacheron is planted on flinty, clay-limestone soils topped with flint. In the vineyard, everything is hand-harvested, and the only fertilizer allowed is compost. In the winery, vats are the primary fermentation vessel, while a minimal amount of oak is used on some plots.
Sancerre Blanc is produced from Sauvignon Blanc plots located half on flint and half on limestone terroirs. The age of the vines varies from 30 to 50 years. The wine is aged for 4 months in vats .
Grape variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
"A vibrant nose of candied lemon, wet chalk, and white flowers opens onto a palate of crystalline purity. A slightly smoky finish recalls the minerality of the terroir."
