Domaine de Ferrand - Antique Cuvée - Old Vines 2018
Domaine de Ferrand is located in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation in the Rhône Valley. Run by fourth-generation winemaker Philippe Bravay , the estate began bottling its own wines in 1997, breaking with the family tradition of selling grapes to merchants and cooperatives. Domaine de Ferrand cultivates approximately 7.5 hectares of vines spread across six plots in four lieux-dits in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Half of the vines are between 45 and 50 years old, while the other half are between 95 and 110 years old. The estate also cultivates 9.5 hectares in the Côtes-du-Rhône appellation. Philippe Bravay is committed to organic farming practices, emphasizing low yields and minimal intervention in the cellar. The wines are not filtered and do not undergo aging in oak barrels, but are instead aged in concrete and stainless steel tanks.
The Cuvée Antique is made from old Grenache and Syrah vines. The wine is aged for 12 months in stainless steel vats .
