Since the beginning of the 19th century, it has been considered the wine of royal and government houses: the Barolo by Marchesi di Barolo, the original home of one of the best-known Italian red wines.
The estate, founded in 1861, originally belonged to the Marchesi Falletti family, who created a world-renowned wine called Barolo in the early 19th century. Since 1970, the Castello has been the property of the municipality, which has set up a wine museum there. The estate in the center of Barolo now belongs to the Abbona family, who bought it in the late 19th century.
