The terroir producing the great cuvée Toscana Tignanello d'Antinori covers 57 hectares and consists of soils rich in limestone, between 350 and 400 meters above sea level. This is the first Sangiovese aged in small oak barrels, the first modern red wine to use non-traditional grape varieties like Cabernet and not to be blended with white grapes. The wine is aged in new oak barrels and one wine, over a period of 12 to 14 months. Antinori's Toscana Tignanello 1989 is made from a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
An intense ruby red color with purplish reflections. On the nose, there is great intensity on ripe red fruits accompanied by very elegant notes of vanilla, chocolate and leather. Additional complexity is revealed with spicy and balsamic notes. A supple wine, enveloping the mouth with fine and tasty tannins. A beautiful freshness on the palate fully respecting the character and personality of Sangiovese. A nice balance between acidity and tannins on a long, persistent and pleasant finish!
