Château LA TOUR BLANCHE 1925
Magnificent original bottle, never reconditioned, from the 1925 vintage. The bottle is in perfect condition.
Built in the 18th century, the Château La Tour Blanche is located near Bommes, in the south of the appellation.
Sauternes, a few hundred meters from Ciron, a tributary of the Garonne. In 1855, the estate was classified as the first of the Premiers Crus, with only the Château d'Yquem above it.
5 decades later, its owner, Daniel Iffla, chose to bequeath the estate to the State on the condition that a school was created for the vine and wine trades. This was done in 1909 with the opening of an establishment which has today become the La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Oenology.
The 40 hectares of the estate are located between Ciron and Garonne, on a terroir subject to the influence of morning mists generated by the two rivers, which allows the development of botrytis cinerea, the noble rot fungus, without which there would be no sweet wines.
The grape variety is dominated by Sémillon, which represents 4 fifths of the vines, followed by Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Very discreet in its gestures and practices, the Château La Tour Blanche produces elegant wines in the shady tranquility of its cellars that carry the colors of the appellation.
