Bénédicte and Stéphane TISSOT - In Barberon - Chardonnay 2022
Domaine Stéphane Tissot has become a leading reference in Jura wines for years. Maurice Tissot, André Tissot's father and Stéphane's grandfather, owned 3 hectares of vines (vinified in a cooperative) and 25 hectares of farmland. In 1956, he decided to plant vines for each of his four sons: Jacques, Jean-Louis, Daniel and André. The latter inherited 38 ares, which would become the André and Mireille Tissot estate, now run by their son Stéphane. Stéphane Tissot is a rebellious spirit who appropriates traditions while sublimating them. After studying Viticulture/Oenology, he joined his father at the family estate in 1989. He gradually took over management of the estate and adopted organic farming in 1999, then switched to biodynamics in 2004. Today they own 43 hectares planted with classic Jura grape varieties: Savagnin, Chardonnay, Poulsard, Trousseau and Pinot Noir.
The En Barberon cuvée showcases a plot of Chardonnay planted on limestone soils, offering a white wine of remarkable elegance and intensity. The 2022 vintage seduces with a refined nose of fresh citrus , white-fleshed fruits and flowers , enriched with brioche and slightly smoky notes. On the palate, the texture is ample and silky , balanced by a mineral tension that brings dynamism and depth. The long and persistent finish underlines a beautiful complexity, between freshness and roundness. A great Jura Chardonnay, ideal to enjoy with fine fish, shellfish, poultry in sauce or even refined gourmet cuisine. A cuvée that perfectly illustrates the Tissot mastery of the art of Chardonnay.
