Domaine de l'Horizon - Rouge 2016
Domaine de l'Horizon is located in Calce, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. After having worked for several estates in Germany, Italy and Saint-Emilion, Thomas Teibert settled down in 2006 on 2.5 hectares of vines. His vineyard, which now covers 15 hectares planted with local grape varieties, has been certified in organic farming since 2007.
Domaine de l'Horizon Rouge is made from vines owned by the Domaine in Calce, cultivated on limestone, schist and marl soil. It is a blend of Carignan (70%) and Grenache Noir (30%) whose age varies between 60 and 100 years. After careful selection, fermentation occurs spontaneously with native yeasts, in whole berries for 12 to 16 days. The aging lasts 12 months in barrels and foudres of 500, 600, 1,200 and 2,000 litres.
