Domaine Berry-Althoff - Syrault 2023
Domaine Berry-Althoff is located in Aubais, in the Gard region of Languedoc. It was founded in 2015 by Imogen Berry and Robin Althoff , a couple of winegrowers and wine merchants. Imogen Berry, originally from Alsace, gained winemaking experience in Argentina, Chile, California and South Africa. Robin Althoff, meanwhile, grew up in the winemaking world at the Costes-Cirgues family estate, practicing biodynamics. The couple met while studying oenology in Montpellier and decided to settle in Aubais to create their own estate. The estate now covers approximately 10 hectares certified biodynamic . The couple produces single- plot cuvées from grapes entrusted to them by partner winegrowers in the Languedoc and wines made from endemic grape varieties and vinified in the most natural way.
Syrault is a blend of Syrah (65%) and Cinsault (35%) from plots located on pebbles and clay, and whose vines are cultivated by Lionel and Alain Prunet at Domaine la Coste du Puy. The grapes are destemmed before being vinified by infusion for 7 days. The wine is aged for 8 months in stainless steel vats .
