Dupont Fahn Estate - Chaumes des Perrières 2023
Domaine Dupont-Fahn is located in Tailly in the commune of Meursault , in Burgundy and was created in 1975. At that time, Raymond Dupont-Fahn 's grandfather believed that his land, straddling Les Perrières de Meursault and Sous le dos d'Anes , was too rocky and lacking in soil. The INAO agreed that 20 cm of topsoil be deposited on the terroir. A few years later, following a complaint from neighboring producers, the plot was downgraded for this same reason to Bourgogne Blanc. Nearly forty years later, the vines are deeply and perfectly rooted in their original terroir and produce high-quality wines. This history, undeniably unique in Burgundy, attracts the curious and buyers, and it is now very difficult to obtain these wines. Raymond Dupont-Fahn represents the third generation of winemakers on this estate worked without pesticides .
Chaume des Perrières is made from Chardonnay grapes grown on the 1er Cru Perrières in Meursault, with an average age of 40 years. Located 50 meters in the Perrières vineyard, just above the Coche-Dury vineyards, the vines have very deep roots. The harvest is manual, then the grapes are directly pressed for two hours and vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats for 4 months. The wine is then aged on lees , in barrels for 12 months (40% new oak, 60% 1-2 year old barrels).
