Domaine des Sables Verts - Saumur Red 2023

Domaine des Sables Verts is located in Verrains, in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation in the Loire Valley . The estate was taken over in 2019 by Caroline Meurée and Hervé Malinge . The vineyard covers 16.50 hectares and 5 communes: Varrains, Chacé, Saumur, Souzay-Champigny and Parnay. The 33 plots offer a diversity and complementarity of terroirs that is part of an ecological and environmentally friendly approach . Some of the vines are cultivated on "green sand" soils ; sands deposited in the secondary era, more or less calcareous and rich in glaucony. These green sands bring freshness and concentration to the Cabernet Francs.

Saumur Rouge (formerly Glouglou) is produced from forty-year-old Cabernet Franc vines, grown on the plots “Les Dares”, “Bonneveaux”, “Perruchers” and “Le Bourg”. After a short maceration, the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats . The wine is aged for 5 months in vats.
