Domaine Mayard - Côtes du Rhône 2024
Domaine Mayard is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, in the southern Rhône region . It was founded in 2021 by Arthur and Hugo Mayard, representing the sixth generation of winemakers in the family. The estate was born from the split of Vignobles Mayard into several entities, including Clos du Calvaire and Domaine Mayard. They cultivate around a dozen hectares, including 10 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape on four islets located in the Grand Coulet, Les Serres, La Crau Est, and Le Pointu areas in the communes of Sorgues, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and Courthézon, as well as 2 hectares of Côtes-du-Rhône on the neighboring Valoris terroirs. The emphasis is on a living agriculture that places the soil and plants at the center of their practices.
Vinification takes place in truncated vats made of concrete, wood and stainless steel , allowing the processes to be adapted to each plot. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, without the addition of sulphur, on ripe and partially destemmed grapes. Maceration lasts around 40 days, followed by aging in wooden vats for the first year, then in concrete vats, with bottling after 18 months.
Côtes-du-Rhône is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre . After a short maceration, the wine is aged in concrete vats .
