Château COS LABORY 1983
Château Cos Labory is located in Saint-Estèphe , in the Bordeaux wine region. It was classified 5th Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 Médoc and Graves classification. The Château takes its name from its geographical location on the hill of Cos and from the name of François Labory, owner until 1845. Since 2023, Michel Reybier and his family have been in charge of the estate. The 35-hectare vineyard is made up of several islands, three of which form the historic heart at the top of the plateau, with the oldest vines.
Château Cos Labory is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, with vines aged 38 years. The 1983 vintage for Bordeaux was generally very good. The growing season began with a cold winter and a cool, wet spring. However, mild conditions soon followed, allowing for near-perfect budburst and flowering, and despite a brief cool spell, temperatures soared in July. August, although still warm, brought abundant rain, providing relief to the vines. September brought drier, sunnier conditions, allowing for a healthy harvest.
