DOMAINE TEMPIER - La Tourtine 2017

Located in the heart of the Bandol appellation on sun-drenched slopes bordering the Mediterranean Sea, Domaine Tempier is today considered the best area of ​​this PDO. Domaine Tempier is an exceptional producer of this appellation. Near the village of Le Castellet, therefore on the top of the massif, at an average altitude of 170 m, this fairly homogeneous clay-limestone terroir is based on Santonian of about 100 million years.

La Tourtine is located on the Castellet hill, the vines grow here on clay and limestone soils of the Santonian Valdonian type, the traditional terroir par excellence of the AOC Bandol. In these comfortable clays and at the height of the summer period, it can happen that one can pass a hand to see a clenched fist in the crevices caused by the retraction of the drying clays. This may surprise you a little but demonstrates that the vine has a fairly deep rooting and it is one of the characteristics of Tourtine. We are located on a hillside, very sunny and very windy and it is probably the combination of all these factors that makes it one of the greatest terroirs of Bandol.

Tourtine combines power and elegance. This fragmented cuvée is made from the selection of an exceptional 5.5 hectare terroir, on a hillside near the village of Le Castellet, where the vines are exposed to the sun and the wind.

Grape varieties: Mourvèdre (~ 85%), supplemented with Grenache and Cinsault.
