BARTOLOMEO - Gin Français - 44%
Bartolomeo is a French Gin made in Charente-Martime, inspired by the spice trade of the Route du Cap. In 1478, Bartolomeu Dias first bypassed the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa and opened the Cape Route (Europe-Asia) which led to a new maritime route for the trade of luxury goods including rare spices.
The main ingredients were chosen from the original spices traded at that time: coriander, melegueta pepper, angelica root, cardamom and ginger in addition to juniper. The master distiller added Timut pepper and Kaffir lime to the recipe.Timut pepper grows in the Nepalese mountains and is only harvested by hand. The Kaffir lime is picked in Madagascar and the Reunion Island. The design of the bottle was inspired by azulejos, the famous painted tiles of Portuguese architecture. An astrolabe, an ancient navigational instrument and symbol of sea travel, appears on the bottle cap and on the label.
