Domain of Solitude 2020
Domaine de la Solitude is located in Pessac-Léognan , in the Bordeaux wine region. In 1820, Bordeaux priest Pierre Bienvenu Noailles founded the Association of the Holy Family, a Christian community. The Association brings together apostolic and contemplative sisters, associate priests, lay people, etc. and they settled in the Hermitage, a building on the edge of the farm buildings. They divide their time between working in the fields and running an orphanage. In the 1970s, the sisters decided to develop their wine capital, and abandoned its management to entrust it to outside parties. In 1993, Olivier Bernard (who has administered Domaine de Chevalier since 1983), agreed to lease the 34-hectare La Solitude wine estate for a period of 40 years.
The Domaine de la Solitude 2020 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (35%) and Petit Verdot (5%) . The harvest is manual and selective sorting is carried out: sorting on whole bunches, then sorting on individual berries. The grapes are placed in vats by gravity. Aging lasts 12 months in barrels , with the first months on lees.
