François Labet - Pinot Noir - Isle of Beauty 2022

Winemaker François Labet has been responsible for the wines of Domaine Pierre Labet since 1984 and vinifies the wines of his highly recognized estate: Château de la Tour in Burgundy, which produces a range of Grand Cru wines in the Clos Vougeot vineyard. François Labet owns a vacation home in Corsica and over the years, he has fallen in love with the rocky, high-altitude lands. He believed that the higher areas of the island would be suitable for growing Pinot Noir, and when the opportunity arose to plant vines, he wasted no time in jumping at the chance. The vineyard is located northwest of Porto Vecchio, on the east coast in the southern region of Corsica. It lies on the geological fault line separating South Corsica and Upper Corsica, each composed of soil schist and granite. The 25 hectare vineyard is also made up of metamorphic rocks from the foothills. It benefits from exceptional sunshine and a temperate climate from the sea and the mountain barrier of 600 meters above sea level. This terroir allows the emblematic grape variety of Burgundy to fully express itself.

The Pinot Noir grapes are entirely destemmed, unlike its Burgundies. The wine is aged in stainless steel vats (2/3) and in 2 wine barrels (1/3). It was bottled in Beaune.
