Château TROTTEVIEILLE 2011

Château Trotte Vieille ligt in Saint-Émilion, in Bordeaux. Het is geclassificeerd als Premier Grand Cru Classé B in de officiële classificatie van Saint-Émilion-wijnen en behoort sinds 1949 tot het handelshuis Borie-Manoux. De wijnbouw op Château Trotte Vieille werd voor het eerst officieel geregistreerd in een document uit 1453, waardoor Trotte Vieille een van de oudste in de appellatie is. Sommige van de wijngaarden in het omheinde domein van 10 hectare zijn meer dan 140 jaar oud. De dominante druivensoort is Merlot, gevolgd door Cabernet Franc en een kleine hoeveelheid Cabernet Sauvignon. Deze wijnstokken zijn geplant in rode kleigrond die kalksteen bedekt.

De Grand Vin van Château Trotte Vieille is merlot-dominant. De oogst gebeurt handmatig en de druiven worden vergist in betonnen tanks met gecontroleerde temperatuur. Deze fermentatie duurt 15 tot 20 dagen, waarna de wijn wordt gerijpt in houten vaten gedurende 12 tot 18 maanden.
