Château LÉOVILLE POYFERRÉ 2014
Château Léoville Poyferré is located in Saint-Julien in Bordeaux. It is classified as Second Growth in the 1855 classification and was part of the conglomerate of the three Léovilles (Las Cases, Barton, Poyferré). Léoville Poyferré was bought by the Cuvelier family in 1920. The Château's vineyard covers 80 hectares, planted only with classic Bordeaux red grape varieties. Within it, to the north-west of the appellation, are the 20 hectares of Château Moulin Riche which also belongs to the Cuvelier family. Château Léoville Poyferré has obtained High Environmental Value level 3 certification (the highest level) since the 2017 vintage for all of its vineyard.
Château Léoville Poyferré 2014 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (2%). The grapes are cold macerated for optimal extraction and aromatic purity, then fermented in stainless steel tanks before aging. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 20 months, with a proportion of new oak. The 2014 vintage saw a succession of warmth, humidity, heat and sunshine which helped to refine the maturity of the berries.
