Domaine des Baumard - Clos Sainte Catherine 2015

Domaine des Baumard ligt in Rochefort-sur-Loire, in Anjou in de Loire-vallei. Oorspronkelijk werd het landgoed gebruikt als een kwekerij gespecialiseerd in de teelt van geënte wijnstokken. In 1955 begon Jean Baumard, na een opleiding tot oenoloog in Dijon en Bordeaux, met het uitbreiden van de wijngaard door aankopen in verschillende appellaties van Anjou, met name in Savennières, Coteaux du Layon en Quarts de Chaume. Florent Baumard kwam in 1987 bij het bedrijf en beheert tegenwoordig 40 hectare wijngaarden verdeeld over beide oevers van de Loire. Het domein wordt beheerd volgens verantwoorde landbouwmethoden.

Clos Sainte Catherine wordt gemaakt van Chenin Blanc afkomstig uit de appellatie Coteaux du Layon. De wijngaarden zijn gemiddeld 35 jaar oud en worden geteeld op een terroir van leisteen, zand en kwarts. De vinificatie gebeurt met hele trossen, waarna de wijn 9 maanden op fijne droesem in roestvrijstalen tanks wordt gerijpt. Het bevat 163,6 g/L restsuikers.

Druivensoort: 100% Chenin Blanc
