PODERI ALDO CONTERNO - Quartetto Rosso 2018

Poderi Aldo Conterno ligt in Bussia de Monteforte d'Alba, in Piemonte, Italië. Aldo Conterno, overleden in 2012, werd beschouwd als een modernist van Barolo, vaak vergeleken met zijn broer Giovanni van het traditioneel ingestelde domein Giacomo Conterno. De vinificatie combineert het moderne en traditionele met Barolo-wijnen die lang gerijpt worden in grote Slavonische eikenhouten vaten, en Franse barriques worden ook gebruikt in het assortiment. Hij kocht het domein Favot en richtte in 1969 de kelder «Poderi Aldo Conterno» op na 8 jaar leidinggeven aan het domein van zijn broer. Het domein van 25 hectare wordt nu geleid door zijn drie zonen: Franco, Stefano en Giacomo. Er zijn drie cru's op het domein; Romirasco, Cicala en Colonnello.

Quartetto is een blend van Nebbiolo, Pinot Noir, Merlot en Syrah afkomstig van verschillende wijngaarden in Bussia. De druiven worden 8 tot 10 dagen gemacereerd in roestvrijstalen tanks. De wijn wordt eerst opgevoed in roestvrijstalen tanks voordat hij wordt overgebracht naar eikenhouten vaten voor enkele extra maanden.
